T2nd Place: Tom Murray & Joe Dabrowski – 281
4th Place: Ryan Stanley – 283

Looking forward, Ryan states that the Ryder Cup weekend is scheduled for this weekend. Team Santalone will wear Blue, while Team Krawczyk will wear white. Going into May, we will host our President’s Cup on Saturday, May 14th, sign ups are going on as we speak. Team 4 ball tournament will be held on May 28th and the Match Play Tournament will begin in June. Sign ups for both events will be out shortly.
Violations Report, presented by Mike Mislin
Mike states that we’ve had a few incidents with a new member showing up in black, denim jeans. After the Pro Shop spoke with this individual, they continued to wear the denim jeans. Mike states that he wrote a letter and if he shows up again in jeans, he will simply be given that letter. Jim Von Eschen states that he has come down since the letter was written and both times he has been dressed properly.
Men’s Locker Room/Food and Beverage Report, presented by Mike Cioffi
Mike starts by addressing the flagpole project, saying that the lights have been installed today. As far as the erosion project goes, Mike says that it is out of his hands now and onto higher ups. The next steps and funding are done by the Village. Brit Lawlor asks Mike to send the reports to the other commission members; both Ray Fell and Mike Cioffi agree to do so. Ray Fell states that the funding will be around $1 million to do the erosion project at the golf course. Jim Von Eschen says that a lot of credit goes to Mike Cioffi for making this project go. Mike Cioffi spoke with Gus about some recent issues with members getting tables in Peter’s. According to the conversation he had with Gus, Mike says that this will no longer be an issue going forward.
Handicap Chairman’s Report, presented by Kevin Lauretti
Kevin states that based on the 402 member number, the club should have roughly $100,000 for next year’s capital assessment project.
Membership Report, presented by Jeff Nagel
Jeff states that we have 2 new members; both residents. 1 joined as a Twilight Member and the other as a Full Member. In addition to that, a couple more Juniors joined as well.
Women’s Locker Room/Food and Beverage Report, presented by Tara Ford
Nothing to report.
Greens Report, presented by Joe Dabrowski
Joe states that aeration of the greens, tees and approaches has been completed last week. He continues, stating that the bunkers are on the list as time allows throughout the Spring. Joe mentions that the new lift is installed, making life easier for the mechanic and the maintenance crew overall. Looking at the 18th hole, Joe states that it is almost finished; the heavy work is done but we just need the weather to cooperate now.
Chairman’s Report, presented by Brit Lawlor
Brit states that Tara is not here tonight, but has worked on the leave policy change. Brit says that we will hold off until she is here to discuss.
Director of Golf Report, presented by Jim Von Eschen
Opening month has been a successful one down here at BGC. Jim mentions that the Pro Shop has finally received some inventory but we’re still waiting for a few items here and there. Women’s and Men’s Tournament days will begin on May 10th and 11th, respectively and they will play as straight tee times. Jim continues, the WMGA tournament will be held on May 5th, with the golf course being closed until 11AM. On Monday, May 23rd, Bellport will hold the IKE qualifier for the second consecutive year, which is a big honor for us. Jimmy says he spoke with Chris Gaffney from the MGA in regards to the 18th hole project and they said it won’t be an issue; whether they play it as a hazard, drop zone, etc.
Superintendent Report, presented by Chris Johnson
As Joe mentioned, the aeration is finished and it went well. Chris states that we did more square footage this time than we ever had in the past. Chris says that this was strictly because we had an extra day of being closed. While on the topic of aeration, Chris mentions that the Summer aeration had to be moved 1 day and will now take place from August 23rd through the 25th. During this Summer aeration, we will be completely closed and we will get tees, greens and fairways all completed in the same week. Chris finishes by asking for patience; he says that the project on 18 is seeded but we will need some time as the weather warms up. Additionally, Chris states that when the grass does decide to show itself, their will be weeds due to the Spring seeding.
Comments from the Crowd
Ray Fell – Thank you for all your hard work in the last few months, it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. Ray finishes saying that the flagpole will be a hit this weekend.
Brit Lawlor makes a motion to end the meeting, Joe Dabrowski 2nd it. Meeting officially ends at 6:25PM.
